    RECENT HAXTUN graduate Michael Gerk played in the Colorado High School Coaches Association All-State game last week. Gerk's team, the North, won 10-7 with a field goal. He is pictured above with his Dad, Rich, on the left, and Haxtun High School Football Coach JD Stone.     The 2023 Phillips County Fair is just around the corner. The event is slated for July 25-30 in Holyoke at the PC Fairgrounds. The local Fair Board recently released this year’s Fair book which are now available in businesses in Haxtun and Holyoke. Look for the red, white and blue colored cover at many local businesses. Haxtun's Phil and LaVonne Hart will be honored as Grand Marshals of this year's week-long event this summer. The theme for the Fair will be, "Red, White and Blue - Veterans We Honor You!"     Ronald G. Lorenzo passed away in Holyoke on June 12, 2023 at the age of 86. Ron was born in LaJunta, Colorado on July 10, 1936 to Rocco and Grace (DiDomenco) Lorenzo. Ron graduated from LaJunta High School in 1954 where he participated in the marching band and was an Eagle Scout.
