The Haxtun Health Board of Directors will remain the same as recent notice of cancellation came regarding upcoming elections to elect one director. Per the notification, there were not more candidates for director than offices to be filled, therefore Pastor Jeri Soens has been elected to a three-year term to expire in May 2025. As the current school year winds down Haxtun administration and board members are busy preparing for the start of another next fall. Along with that comes several resignations, the approval of salary schedules for the 2022-33 school year and an executive session that followed with a resolution for a non-renewal of a high school staff member during a recent April, 19 meeting of the local Board of Education. The Garden of the Dawgs greenhouse build project began with Haxtun Junior High students in October. With advice from many valuable sources, the students used repurposed and donated materials for construction, completing it in February. In addition to the plants, students came up with garden projects to build and sell including bird baths, elevated beds, birdhouses, fairy jars and wash tables. Fleming High School recently announced that Zoey Vandenbark has earned a place in the Daniels Scholarship Program. Brogan Dee Heiny died on April 18, 2022 at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora at the age of 23. Brogan, one of fraternal triplets, was born to Dana Kelly Heiny and William Charles Heiny on June 25, 1998, in Fayetteville, Ark.
