    MICHAEL Beard recently took his oath of office to fill the vacancy of Phillips County Sheriff. Beard was appointed by the Phillips County Commissioners to fill the Sheriff's position following the passing of Thom Elliott several weeks ago.     The Bulldog basketball season came to a close 290 miles away in Sanford on Friday night. Haxtun traveled to the southern corner of the state in the first round of Regional action that pitted the Bulldogs against the Mustangs in 2A post-season play.     HAXTUN SENIOR Aly Lock finished up her high school swimming career by competing at the Patriot League Conference Swim Meet and at the 3A Colorado State Swim Meet.
