Following the regular Jan. 9 Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board convened its usual reorganization meeting that occurs at the start of each new year. As its first item of business, the board appointed Terry Hofmeister to serve as chairman for 2024. His term follows Garold Roberts who served as chair in 2023. ON JAN. 23, Logan County Sheriff Powell awarded Deputy DelRay Mayhew with the Sheriff's Commendation Award for his actions on Dec. 20, 2023 during a semi crash on I-76 at milepost 141. Deputy Mayhew was the first emergency responder on scene and observed the driver, who was severely burned laying on the ground outside of the semi, which was fully engulfed in fire. The Lady Bulldogs secured their second win of the season with a home court victory over Otis on Saturday afternoon. The match up with Otis was one of two at home last week. Glenn Dean Huwa Glenn tragically lost his life in a car accident on Dec. 28, 2023. Glenn was born on Nov. 1, 1952 to Alexander and Ella Mae Huwa of rural Weld County north of Windsor.
