Haxtun residents and parents of students in the Haxtun School District recently received a survey regarding information about potentially moving to a four-day school week in their mailboxes. Of the nearly 800 surveys mailed, 118 were returned.     Out of all the Colorado 1A boys’ basketball teams, the Haxtun Bulldogs ended their season with a Great 8 finish, and despite a tough loss to a team that finished in the championship, the Bulldogs boast a final 11-6 winning record. The Haxtun team made the almost 400-mile drive to take on DeBeque, the number-three seeded team out of the 24-team bracket.     After only a few hours of deliberation, a Colorado jury found Donthe Lucas guilty of first degree murder in the disappearance of Kelsie Schelling. Shortly after the verdict was read, Lucas was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
